Napier Lion Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
"Lion Creek Cabernet Sauvignon is smooth and inviting and perfect for barbecues and casual dining" - Alison Flemming MW
Napier is a new shooting star on South Africa’s dynamic wine scene. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Hawequas Mountains, this boutique, family-owned winery has 88 hectares in Wellington, just 70 km to the north-east of Cape Town, and offers a counterpoint to the more well-known areas of Stellenbosch and Paarl. Mountain water and snow melt supplies Napier’s own bore for precision-planned drip irrigation to manage development of each individual varietal, vineyard block and quality level. All work in the vineyards is concentrated on achieving varietal typicité and perfect balance, from the Lion Creek wines for everyday drinking through to Napier’s multiple award-winning icon wine, Red Medallion.
"Wellington’s warm and sunny climate provides ideal conditions to ripen the small-berried, dark coloured Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown here, giving a lushness of fruit and full, easy-going style. Ripe blackcurrant aromas intermingle with a touch of mocha and spice. Lion Creek Cabernet Sauvignon is smooth and inviting and perfect for barbecues and casual dining" - Alison Flemming MW
