Monte del Fra Valpolicella Classico DOC
A soft, easy-drinking Valpolicella with ripe notes of cherry, and a hint of spice with soft tannins. Incredibly smooth.
Monte del Frà is located in the heart of the Custoza area, on the east side of Lake Garda and only 15 Km away from the centre of Verona. It was founded by brothers Eligio and Claudio Bonomo in 1958.
The farm owns 140 hectares. Its history is linked to the grand crus such as Cà del Magro, il vigneto Colombara, Grottino, Staffalo, Monte Godi, Monte Fitti, Mascarpine, Bagolina, Pezzarara and Monte del Frà. For the past decade or so, the Bonomo family have also owned a beautiful winery in the Valpolicella Classica village of Fumane. The Bonomo family are passionate about nature and believe that the key to great wine is the emphasis put on the cultivation of the vines. The vineyards are planted in Guyot in the areas of Cusotza, Bardolino and Lugana and with the classic "pergola" system in the Valpolicella Classica. The grapes are of very high quality, since the maximum fruit production per plant is 2-3kg.
The vineyards are completely irrigated through a drip irrigation system, to ensure that the vines are hydrated all year round. Modern winemaking techniques are then applied in the cellar to preserve the characteristic of the grapes and produce excellent wines. Thanks to the family’s attention to detail in every stage of the wines production, the wines have received international recognition.
A dry red wine that is brilliant ruby red, extremely elegant and well-balanced. Flavours of cherries and a hint of spice. Perfect as an aperitif and excellent with boiled white and red meats or, in general, with dishes that are not too elaborate and richly flavoured.
