The wine spends only three months in oak barrels, thus preserving its freshness. The end product is a well structured and balanced wine with great aromas of ripe black and red fruits.

The wine spends 14 months in French oak barrels further adding to its maturity. There are intense aromas of black fruits, cocoa, and vanilla. The palate is unctuous and round and it is held together with silky tannins. This is a full bodied wine that pairs perfectly with a steak.
1 x Matsu El Viejo
El Viejo, or 'The Old One', is made from Tinta de Toro vines that are over 100 years old. The wine spends time in oak barrels which adds to its maturity and produces spicy and smokey aromas. The fruity hints on the palate are well balanced by excellent tannins. Drink now or keep for up to 5 years.
Matsu, the Japanese word for `wait`, pays homage to the generations of devoted wine makers. The images of the real-life wine-producers decorate the bottle and represent the essence of each of the wines. Picaro means `rogue` or `rascal`, and this rapscallion of a wine is a youthful interpretation of the Toro region`s style. El Recio translates as `the tough guy`, and is a more serious, mature wine, made from the product of some of Toro`s oldest vines. `The Old One` of the Matsu range, made from the fruit of selected Tinta de Toro vines, averaging 110 years of age - presented in a card gift box.
