Masut Pinot Noir 2017
A Seductive, silky and supple boutique Californian Pinot Noir from Ben and Jake Fetzer - delicious!
Aged 12 months in 32% new French oak, this silky red starts off with cherry, chocolate, cinnamon, and oak on the nose. Flavours of soy sauce and coffee bean emerge through mineral-driven soil notes, blueberry and cherry notes are enhanced with a touch of vanilla.
Brothers Ben and Jake Fetzer, the grandsons of Barney Fetzer, founded this winery, which is named for a Native American word that translates as “dark, rich earth”; located in the mountainous Eagle Peak appellation, it remains this enclave’s only winery. The vineyard is 35 acres of Pinot Noir which straddles the western mountains at the headwaters of the Russian River. Masút’s goal is to produce a Pinot Noir of the highest quality and expression, and we love the dark fruits, plush texture and spice.
