Main Divide Riesling 2014
A hidden gem of wine and one of our team favourites - if you like Riesling then give this a try!
Located on the South Island of New Zealand Main Divide is a label produced by Pegasus Bay in the Waipara Valley. The Donaldson family have been seriously involved in wine since the early 1970’s and were pioneers of local grape growing and wine making. The wines at Main Divide are produced with grapes from selected South island vineyards that reflect the unique terroir of the Southern Alps with purity, unspoilt freshness and lively fruit flavours. The winemaking techniques used by the Donaldson family are strictly traditional, priding themselves on little human interference from vine to bottle, in order to produce distinctive, vibrant wines.
This Riesling has a delicate star-bright, lemon hue at first. Flavours of limes, lemons, white peaches and nectarines with a hint of tropical spices and lychees flood the palate. Despite the fullness and power of these flavours; this white remains elegant and lithe. This crisp, light Riesling is ideal to accompany chicken and fish dishes.
