Les Terrasses de Saint Christophe Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2014
95pts - Platinum: Best Right Bank Bordeaux - Decanter World Wine Awards 2017
Château Tour Saint Christophe is located in St-Christophe-des-Bardes at the border of St-Émilion. The vineyard is unique as it is partly planted on narrow terraces and tended in tight rows. The cascading landscape unfolds on the hillside of Cassevert overlooking the St-Laurent valley. The property is home to beautiful centuries-old dry stone terraces on a clay-limestone terroir. About 1.5 km of dry-stone terraces have been repaired by hand, a two-year process. The vineyard, with vines of an average age of 30 years, is orientated south-southwest and benefits from an ideal exposure to sun and perfect natural drainage conditions. Les Terrasses de Saint Christophe is the second label of Château Tour Saint Christophe.
"Complex aromas burst through, refined sleek oak overlaying herbaceous dark fruits and a savoury iron background. Black plums and cherries dominate the spicy cocoa palate, with crystalline minerality and a long, confident, peppery, finish."
This is the second wine of Château Tour Saint Christophe and delivers impeccable flavour and balance. Rich overtones of blackfruit and cherry lead into and well-weighted palate with earthy and woodsmoke flavours which hint at how well this wine will age. There are plenty of tannins adding structure and layers of complexity from oak aging. Drinking very well now, try with roast beef or a hearty sausage casserole. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc.
