Leeuwin Estate 'Prelude Vineyards' Chardonnay 2015
"Most chardonnay vignerons would give their eye teeth to have a wine as good as this" - 94pts James Halliday
Leeuwin Estate is one of the founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district that consistently produces wines amongst the world’s finest. Established in 1972 after Robert Mondavi identified it as the most suitable location to produce top quality varietal wines in Australia. Denis and Tricia Horgan; with guidance from Robert Mondavi; transformed the original cattle farm into an excellent wine estate.
"Cool crushed with some skin contact, then pressed, 100% fermented in French oak (40% new) with a mix of wild and cultured yeasts, matured for 9 months. Most chardonnay vignerons would give their eye teeth to have a wine as good as this as their entry point. Light bright colour, and a juicy array of nectarine, white peach and gentle citrus fruit have distracted all attention from the oak. A lovely wine."
A vibrant nose of pear, peach and lime with a delicately rextured palate of pear, ruby grapefruit and white peach. Hints of wild honey and cashew add complexity to the balanced finish. Enjoy with garlic prawns and scallops.
