Leconfield Coonawarra Old Vines Riesling 2017

If you are a fan of dry Aussie Riesling, you will love this stunner from 40yr old Coonawarra vines.

Leconfield was established in 1974 by pioneering oenologist Sydney Hamilton. They are renowned for their modern approach, producing high quality wines which are sought after all around the world. Leconfield is situated in the heart of Australia’s famous Coonawarra with its rich Terra Rosa soil over limestone providing the ideal environment for growing premium Cabernet Sauvignon.

Sydney Hamilton planted the 6 acre (2.6 ha) Riesling vineyard in 1974. Today, it remains dry-grown and produces excellent fruit every year. The philosophy with this wine is to have minimal handling, using unirrigated, hand pruned vines. Over the years the Leconfield Riesling has taken its place amongst the best examples in Australia. Their 40-year-old Riesling vines comprise some of the original plantings on the estate; mature vines which produce a crop of intensely flavoured fruit with wonderful varietal character every year. This is simply stunning winemaking.
