La Ferme Du Mont Gigondas "Jugunda" 2018
"Sophisticated and elegant" - JancisRobinson.com. "showy, full-bodied" - Wine Advocate
"Fleshy, generously oaked and full of juicy bramble fruits on the palate. Very fine tannin and lovely violet fragrance to finish. Sophisticated and elegant" - 17 Points, JancisRobinson.com (2017 vintage)
Deep ruby red colour with purple tints. This has a powerful nose of spices (pepper, laurel), ripe red fruits and an interesting incense note. The palate is full and rich, but keeps an elegant freshness thanks to minerality from the soils. There are lots of spice, vanilla and tobacco notes adding complexity, and the wine finishes long. Enjoy over the next 10 years +.
La Ferme du Mont is one of the up and coming superstars of the Southern Rhône, under the ownership of perfectionist winemaker Stephane Vedeau. When we tasted his wines we were blown away, and when we met him we quickly learnt of his meticulous attention to detail, and passion for producing wonderfully pure wines which show character, elegance and quality. He owns around 50 hectares of old vines which he tends to without the use of chemicals and pesticides, and continues with a sensitive approach in the winery, to let the fruit and the terroir shine through in the wines. These are some of the best Rhône wines we've tasted, which we highly recommend.
