Kozlovic Teran 2016 Croatia

Wild at heart, true to its roots! A fresh and medium bodied red wine reminiscent of Refosco from Northern Italy

The Kozlovic family have been making wine in the Istrian region of Croatia since 1904. The region borders Friuli and the wines, food and people have a real connection with their Italian neighbours. The winery is run by Gianfranco and Antonella Kozlovic and they currently cultivate 17 hectares of vineyards. Their speciality is the Malvasija or Malvasia grape. The grape originated in Greece but has found its real qualitative home in these vineyards in the north of Croatia.
Gianfranco is a perfectionist and is constantly striving for ways to improve his wines. He has a real modern approach to winemaking. The wine is fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures to retain all the intense zesty aromas of the Malvasija. This is a brilliant world class wine packed with explosive mouth filling apricot fruit balanced with long lingering acidity and minerals.

Tasting Notes

This wine displays deeper almost opaque purple colour. There is a lot of youth and freshness on the nose with intense scents of small red and black berry fruits such as raspberry, blueberry, strawberry with some peppery and forest-like hints. Dry on the palate. This one is certainly not shy to display its acidities, a hard-coded feature of its DNA. Medium bodied with low tannin content and refreshing finish.
