Kaapzicht Skuinsberg Cinsault 2018
This bold Cinsault was a hit at our 2019 South Africa Tasting!!
Black cherry and plums combine with sweet herbs and a slight smoked meat element. Generous fistfuls of chunky red and black fruit on the full palate that is juicy, yet structured, savoury and dry.
The Kaapzicht estate is without doubt one of the top Stellenbosch wine producers. The name Kaapzicht was chosen due to the breathtaking view from the Estate of Table Mountain and Cape Town. In South Africa, the Kaapzicht Estate covers 174 hectares, with 146 hectares currently under vine. The vineyards stretch over predominantly north facing slopes on fertile granite soil with a climate that is ideal for growing quality grapes.
Skuinsberg Cinsaut was planted in 1991 on the steepest slope (Skuinsberg) on Kaapzicht: the hills have claimed quite a few tractors over the past 40 years!
