The Coonawarra region (380km south-east of Adelaide) is famous for its terra rossa soil and the quality of its Cabernet Sauvignon. The former cricket ground was purchased by the Barry’s in 1998, and comprises of 10.5 hectares. The vines are planted around the retired cricket pitch, aptly inspiring The Cover Drive and The First
XI labels.

"The First XI honours the legends of Australian cricket. Those elite sportsman who have achieved the distinction of
representing their country at the highest level. The best of the best.” - Peter Barry

To honour these standards, The First XI is only produced in exceptional years. This 2015 release is the ninth since the inaugural 2000 vintage. So when you next enjoy a glass of The First XI, toast the legends for whom the wine is named… those who have made it to the top of their craft.
