Il Falchetto Pian Scorrone Barbera d'Asti 2018
A Slurp Exclusive, the 'Pian Scorrone' Barbera from Il Falchetto is a great introduction to this Italian red grape, and to the style of the estate.
The 'Pian Scorrone' Barbera from Il Falchetto is a great introduction to this Italian red grape, and to the style of the estate. This 2018 is straight from the winery, so is very youthful in style. It may need another 4-6 months to settle and really show at it's best - which is a vibrant and fruity, unoaked, and very enjoyable red. We were really impresed, and at this price level we haven't tasted anything on a par. Enjoy over the next 2-3 years.
The Forno family have been winemakers in Piedmont since the mid-1600's, and today, Il Falchetto is run by fourth generation brothers Giorgio, Fabrizio and Adriano. The estate itself is based in the small town of Santo Stefano Belbo on the banks of the Tanaro river, and owns vineyards either side of this, across both the Langhe and Monferrato hills.
