Henri Bourgeois 'La Vigne Blanche' Sancerre 2017
A classic Sancerre, expressive and zesty with a mineral/slate character. Perfect with seafood, shellfish and cheeses.
Domaine Henri Bourgeois, based near Chavignol, is an acclaimed producer of Sancerre, having produced wines for 10 generations. They own and produce their acclaimed 'Le MD' wine from the famous "Cote des Monts Damned" vineyard, located on steep slopes, and a further 6 different cuvees of Sancerre from various vineyard plots. The pick of the range for us is their 'La Vigne Blanche', grown on hard limestone 'Caillottes' soils, creating an approachable yet zesty style which gives you everything you want from a Sancerrre - just add a seafood salad for heaven! Enjoy while young over 1-2 years, this can age further and develops and more rounded and herbaceous character.
This 100% Sauvignon Blanc is classic Sancerre, expressive with delicate floral, grapefuit, nettle, and mineral/slate aromas. The palate is crisp and fresh, but with real depth of fruit, a roundness on the mid-palate, and very long zesty finish. Enjoy while young, perfect with seafood, shellfish and cheeses, or serve as an aperitif.
