Greystone Sauvignon Blanc Barrel Fermented 2018
A delicious oaked organic New Zealand Sauvignon, this is rich, textured and full-flavoured.
Greystone Wines began in 2000 when the Thomas Family purchased a farm with exceptional limestone soils in the Omihi hills in Waipara. Viticultural specialist Nick Gill was bought over from Penfolds to plant 13 blocks on this unique terroir and by 2004 work was complete.
Recently described by Decanter magazine as one of the top producers in New Zealand, the vineyard is situated in the Waipara Valley, an hour north of Christchurch. Greystone is 100% certified organic and believes true fine wines are temporal, each vintage a fleeting snapshot of a place in time. They don't seek to manipulate the final product and allow a true interpretation of the soil, vines and season to shine through in their wines.
This delicious Sauvignon Blanc is light in colour, but rich, creamy, full-flavoured and textural on the palate thanks to being made in oak barrels. This gives the wine a quite different style to the usual 'Marlborough' Sauvignon's. This has lots of ripe fruit flavours - a luscious mix of tropical and stone fruits – perfectly balanced with refreshing acidity and that rounded mouthfeel from the oak. This is an exceptional example of an oaked style of Sauvignon, and a wine which simply must be tried!
