The Tate Family have been making award-winning wines in Margaret River since 1969, when family patriarch John Tate founded Evans & Tate. They have gone on to recieve great critical acclaim and are arguably Margaret River’s most well known winery. They twice won “Most Outstanding Red Wine in the World” at the Wine Magazine International Wine Challenge - not bad! John's Son Franklin spent several years looking for the best sites, which offer the best balance and diversity of soils, with the capability to reduce yield and concentrate flavours. He is committed to making the best quality wines possible which reflect the region. His 'Franklin Tate Estate' wines are all about a passion for wine making, and are unique hand-crafted wines from selected plots in the now World renowned Margaret River region.
Vibrant crimson and plum red. A bright bouquet of intense blackcurrant and plum aromas. Hints of black olive, sage and spice add a slight savoury element among the plush fruit. Bright and juicy fruit flavours of ripe blackcurrant and dark plum with a hint of violet and black olive. The fruit is balanced by gripping chalky tannins and a good length of integrated oak notes of choc-mint with cinnamon and cedar spice.
