Francois Millet Tentation Sancerre 2017
Top Sancerre from small producer Francois Millet.
The palate is intense with white fruits, think ripe peach and pear. A little time spent ageing in acacia wood barrels lends the wine a gentle oaky complexity and hints of vanilla, honey and sweet spices. This is an extremely well-balanced and well-structured wine.
This is the top wine from small grower Francois Millet, handcrafted in tiny quantities from vines over 45 years old. François is the fifth generation of his family to make wine in Bué en Sancerre. Their vineyard now covers 21 hectares, éwith plots in both clay and limestone-based sites, giving subtle differences between each cuvée.
The subtle use of acacia wood in this bottling adds extra complexity rather than a woody character and shows an extremely deft touch.
