Domaine Nudant Nuits-Saint-Georges 2017
An excellent Nuits-Saint-Georges with an intense colour and big aromatic flavours of fruits, spices and mushrooms.
Finesse and complexity, are the two biggest qualities of Nuits-Saint-Georges wines. They have an intense colour with big aromatics of fruits, spices and mushrooms. The wines are full-bodied with firm tannins that will allow them to age very well.
Enjoy these qualities with roasted meat, hearty casseroles and cheese.
The domaine covers 16 hectares in both Côtes de Beaune and Côtes de Nuits, covering 20 appellations. It has been in existence since 1792 when Guillaume Nudant purchased his first vineyards. In more recent times, it was André Nudant who expanded the domaine in 1950, and now it is run by his grandson Guillaume. They use both hand and machine harvesting, and destem all the grapes, which are then hand sorted. The domaine does cold maceration and pigeage before pressing, then fermentation in barrique, a third of which are renewed every year, and used according to the wine’s particular requirements. Ageing is for 12-15 months after which blending of the barrels takes place in tank to soften the tannins.
This wine comes from a vineyard plot on chalky clay, facing South-South-East that is just over half a hectare in area and with vines of over 50 years of age.
