Domaine Nudant Aloxe-Corton ‘Clos de la Boulotte’ Monopole 2018
Clos de la Boulotte is a 1.12 hectare single vineyard of 60 year old vines and this is a super example of Aloxe-Corton.
This is quite rich, round, full and ripe with a nip of tannin and very modest use of oak. An excellent Burgundy from from a small plot of old vines, produced by a small family Domaine.
The domaine covers 16 hectares in both Côtes de Beaune and Côtes de Nuits, covering 20 appellations. It has been in existence since 1792 when Guillaume Nudant purchased his first vineyards. In more recent times, it was André Nudant who expanded the domaine in 1950, and now it is run by his grandson Guillaume. They use both hand and machine harvesting, and destem all the grapes, which are then hand sorted. The domaine does cold maceration and pigeage before pressing, then fermentation in barrique, a third of which are renewed every year, and used according to the wine’s particular requirements. Ageing is for 12-15 months after which blending of the barrels takes place in tank to soften the tannins.
Clos de la Boulotte is 1.12 hectares of 60 year old vines which the domaine own in its entirety, hence 'Monople', and their first vintage, after its purchase, was 1995.
