Domaine Henri Delagrange Meursault 2017
A wonderful rich Meursault from a small family producer focusing on quality.
Domaine Henri Delagrange, in Volnay, Côte d'Or, owns fourteen and a half hectares of vines in the best situations in Côte de Beaune. The family business is run by Didier Delagrange, vine grower and wine maker, who produces high quality Burgundy wines. All of the wines produced are harvested, vinified and bottled at the vineyard. This Meursault is aged 12 months in oak barrels, with 20% new oak.
This Meursault has a golden colour in the glass. It has a complex aroma with floral notes (hawthorn, acacia, verbena), a mineral (flinty) character and citrus fruit and vanilla, which with age develops hazelnut and honey notes. A rich, full bodied wine, this has ripe stone and citrus fruit flavours with a touch of oak and nutty and buttery elements. A great match with grilled shellfish, scallop fricassée, foie gras, veal and poultry in white sauce, and blue cheeses.
