Domaine Gerard Tremblay Chablis 1er Cru 'Cote de Lechet' 2017
A superb quality 1er Cru Chablis from one of the regions best producers, perfect with oysters or scallops.
Domaine Gerard Tremblay is today overseen by the passionate 5th generation Gérard and his wife Hélène, along with their children! This is one of the most respected and awarded Domaines in Chablis, today with 37 Hectares including 10 in the premier Crus sites. Gérard uses “Lutte raisonnée” sustainable viticulture and takes a lot of care in plowing to preserve the terroir of classic Chablis 'Kimmeridgian' sub soils, giving his wines great intensity, freshness and finesse. There is a small and well-judged use of oak barrels during fermentation, which Gérard believes brings out the best characater in the wine without an obvious oak presence in aroma or taste. These are top class Chablis wines, and our pick is the 1er Cru 'Cote de Lechet' 2017 which is simply stunning.
This superb quality 1er Cru Chablis from one of the regions best producers is fresh and well-structured, with vibrant slate/minerality and delicate apple fruit, white blossom, honey and spice aromas. The palate is rich and wonderfully balanced between intense citrus acidity and riper honeyed orchard fruit flavours, with a touch of hazlenut and spice. Enjoy well-chilled with seafood, a particular treat with scallops or oysters.
