Domaine du Chalet Pouilly, Saint-Véran 2017
This delicious Saint-Véran is exclusive to Slurp in the UK. Perfect with Moules Marinières and oysters.
Domaine du Chalet Pouilly is located in the small and beautiful village of Solutre-Pouilly, on a sun-soaked hillside overlooking the small hamlet of Pouilly, in the heart of the "Pouilly-Fuissé" appellation. The Plumet family have produced wine here for more than a century, having planted the original vines in 1850, and were awarded first prize at the Mâcon wine competition for their Burgundy wine in 1928 - well before the Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran appellations had even been created! The viticultural and winemaking expertise gained over time has been passed down from generation to generation. Today the Domaine is run by Bernard and Agnès Léger-Plumet, who produce three stunning 100% Chardonnay wines; Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Mâcon-Solutré. We're delighted to import and offer these superb wines exclusively in the UK.

"Clay-limestone soils, fossil-rich marl. Fermented and aged 8 months in tank. Gently creamy and lightly spiced citrus aroma. Ripe citrus on the palate, gentle but fresh. This is not a blockbuster but it has lovely harmony and freshness and should be GV. Nicely dry finish. (JH)" 15.5 Points, JancisRobinson.com
This Saint-Véran has a light yellow appearance in the glass with greenish tints. The aroma is elegant with crisp apple, grapefuit and floral/blossom notes. The palate has ripe apple and nectarine fruit with slight notes of butter and freshly baked bread. This is a classic example which has wonderful baance and poise, and a long and fresh finish. Enjoy now, or can be cellared for 5 to 10 years. The winemakers recommend matching especially with Moules Marinières, oysters or Gougères (a baked savory pastry made of choux dough mixed with cheese).
