Domaine du Chalet Pouilly, Pouilly-Fuisse 2015
This delicious Pouilly-Fuisse is exclusive to Slurp in the UK - awarded 91 Points by both RobertParker.com and Wine Enthusiast
Domaine du Chalet Pouilly is located in the small and beautiful village of Solutre-Pouilly, on a sun-soaked hillside overlooking the small hamlet of Pouilly, in the heart of the "Pouilly-Fuissé" appellation. The Plumet family have produced wine here for more than a century, having planted the original vines in 1850, and were awarded first prize at the Mâcon wine competition for their Burgundy wine in 1928 - well before the Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran appellations had even been created! The viticultural and winemaking expertise gained over time has been passed down from generation to generation. Today the Domaine is run by Bernard and Agnès Léger-Plumet, who produce three stunning 100% Chardonnay wines; Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Mâcon-Solutré. We're delighted to import and offer these superb wines exclusively in the UK. They continue to impress the critics with Neal Martin of RobertParker.com stating that "These are well worth seeking out." while singling out the Pouilly-Fuissé as "delicious" and awarding 91 Points.
"Just a delicious Pouilly-Fuissé." 91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"With richness from wood aging, this ripe, smooth and creamy wine is ready to drink...now and until 2024." 91 Points - Wine Enthusiast
This Chardonnay has a bright golden colour and green tints. The aromas are of ripe apple, peach and has floral/white blossom notes with a citrus edge. The palate has wonderful rich fruit with flavours of apple, peach and ripe melon, with rounded hazlenut and a light toasted character. It has a wonderful texture with delicious ripe fruit rounded out by the oak, and with balancing citrus freshness. This delicious Pouilly-Fuissé is best served lightly chilled, and works well as an appetiser, or matched with seafood such as lobster and salmon, and poulty and cheeses. The winemakers recommend Comté, Goat (not too strong) and Époisse de Bourgogne cheeses, and to match with grilled Salmon with "beurre blanc" sauce. This wine can be cellared from 5 to 10 years.
