Domaine Drouhin Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2015
French Soul, Oregon Soil.
In 1987, Burgundy's Maison Joseph Drouhin established DDO in the Dundee Hills, a small growing region in the Willamette Valley, thirty miles southwest of Portland. Fourth-generation wine maker Veronique Drouhin-Boss and her brother, viticulturalist Philippe Drouhin, are responsible for the high quality of what is produced in Oregon.
French Soul, Oregon Soil. The Dundee Hills Pinot Noir is a wine of superb balance, elegance and finesse. It is lovely on release and has a history of ageing well.
Medium red with a bright rim. Vibrant red currant, raspberry, rose and cinnamon aromas show striking clarity and are reminiscent of a wine from one of Burgundy's more elegant climats. Spicy and sweet, with energetic red berry flavours deepened by suggestions of musky underbrush and tarragon. An elegant, tangy midweight, finishing on zesty notes of blood orange and minerals.
