Domaine Cruchandeau Savigny-les-Beaune ‘Les Petits Picotins’ 2012

An exciting Savigny-les-Beaune from up-and-coming Domaine Cruchandeau in the Côte de Nuits

Domaine Cruchandeau is a relatively newish estate located in Chaux (just above Nuits-Saint-Georges).  The Domaine was brought to life in 2003 by Julien Cruchandeau – a former chef and musician – but it was not until 2010 Julien focused fully on the wine business. In 2002, at the age of 24, he was quoted by the Hachette Guide. In 2005 he won the Gold Medal at the Côte Chalonnaise Wine Competition, which earned him a high regard. The Domaine currently includes  9 appellations of wines from the Côte de Nuits, and we are listing the Savigny les Beaune "Les Petits Picotins" and Ladoix "Les Ranches".  The harvest is manual and the wines are vinified and aged in oak barrels and vats. Vinification is as natural as possible , respecting traditional methods while using some modern winemaking techniques, including temperature control.

Tasting Notes

This Savigny les Beaune "Les Petits Picotins" has aromas of wild raspberries and dark forest berries with a touch of savoury oak. The palate is medium bodied, with a good balance of freshness and berry fruit flavours. A great food wine, this finishes quite long and refreshing.
