Domaine Chante Cigale Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2014
Deep ruby in colour with an expressive nose of ripe dark fruit and spice.
Domaine Chante Cigale is located on the left bank of the Rhône. The soils of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape contain a high proportion of ‘galets’. These are large stones that obtain heat during the day and gradually release this through the night; allowing grapes to reach their optimum ripeness. "Showing nicely in the vintage, the 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape offers attractive notes of blackberries, crushed rocks, leather and wild herbs to go with a medium-bodied, balanced feel on the palate. It shows the austere edge that’s common in the vintage, but it has a classic feel and will drink well for 10-12 years. The blend here is 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault that was raised mostly in concrete tank, yet with 30% in a combination of demi-muid and barrels." 87-90 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate
The estate's entry-level Chateauneuf is deep ruby in colour with an expressive nose of ripe dark fruit and spice. On the palate the wine combines fine tannins with a generous body, ripe red fruit flavours are complemented by some spice and darker fruit notes.
