De Bortoli Vinoque Greco 2017
A wonderful find, this Australian Greco (usually found in Italy) from De Bortoli is mouthwatering and fresh.
De Bortoli are one of Australia's most famous and historic winemaking families. This new range bottled under the 'Vinoque' label is a chance to showcase their experimental side, and offers unique flavours and styles which prove how versatile Australia can really be. The wines include a mouthwatering Greco, usually found in southern Italy, a fruity Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir blend - the only one we've come accross, plus a dark and enticing Iberian blend based on Touriga Nacional. Alongside the interesting grapes and blends, the range is also sourced from specific premium regions such as Yarra Valley and Heathcote. If this wasn't enough, they are well-priced and offer superb value for money.
A rare find in Australia, the Greco grape really shines here with a lovely natural fresh acidity making this light and very food-friendly. This is dry, with tight citrus and melon fruit along with a mineral and stone character with a touch of salt and mouthwatering lemon acidity. A great match for seafood and mediterranean dishes, best enjoyed while youthful over the next 1-2 years.
