The Dalmore 18 Year Old is matured in two types of wooden casks – 14 years in ex-bourbon casks after which the whisky is transferred to 30 year old Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks for another 4 years. This process gives the whisky its rich vanilla, dark chocolate and orange flavours which lead to a long fruity and slightly oaky finish.

The legend of The Dalmore dates back to 1263, when Colin of Kintail, Chief of the clan Mackenzie, saved King Alexander III of Scotland from a charging stag. As a reward the grateful King, granted Colin of Kintail the lands of Eilean Donan, the motto ‘Luceo Non Uro’(‘I Shine, Not Burn’) and the right to use the 12-pointed Royal Stag as the Mackenzie clan crest. The distillery itself was established years later by Alexander Matheson who in 1867 decided to pass it to new owners – Andrew and Charles Mackenzie who brought with them the iconic 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem proudly adorning every bottle of The Dalmore since. The Dalmore 18 Year Old is matured in two types of wooden casks – 14 years in ex-bourbon casks after which the whisky is transferred to 30 year old Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks for another 4 years.
