Cuvee Jolie Terre de Providence Pays d'Oc Rosé 2018
One of the best rosé wines we have tasted and an instant favourite!
Cuvée Jolie Terre de Providence is a wonderful Pays d'Oc Rosé from the South of France which exemplifies the quality and value for money outside of Provence. The name Cuvée Jolie is inspired by Picasso and a love for fine art, 'Ma Jolie' was a popular French song in the early 20th century and a nickname given to his lover, Eva Gouel. The name ‘Terre de Providence’ references the fantastic terroir in this region, and the care that is given to tending this earth.
The grapes for this wine are all sourced from low-yielding old vines across 47ha that lie on old volcanic soils composed of 70% schist, which helps create high-quality grapes with great structure and freshness. Indigenous yeasts are used to ferment the wine for 15 to 18 days in stainless steel vats at low temperatures to preserve the delicate fruit flavours. Each grape variety (40% Grenache, 50% Cinsault and 10% Syrah) is harvested and vinified separately before then finally being blended together to create a super example of Southern French Rosé.
Cuvée Jolie Terre de Providence is a blend of 40% Grenache, 50% Cinsault and 10% Syrah which has a delicate and inviting 'Provençal' colour and has delicious aromas of bright berry fruit, floral honeysuckle and citrus. On the palate it is light and fresh while full-flavoured with crunchy red berries, citrus fruit, and slightly honeyed notes. There is a wonderful acidity on the finish which refreshes the palate and makes this a perfect wine to drink on its own or with seafood, salads or even pizza. Drink now or over the next 2 years.
