Cuatro Pasos Mencia Bierzo 2016

A fruity and elegant wine made with Mencia grapes from at least 80 years old vines.
This red wine, made in Bierzo, is created by Luciano Amoedo and Katia Alvarez, of Martin Codax. It is entirely made up of Mencia grapes, the native variety of Bierzo. These grapes are plucked from vines that are at least 80 years old. The name of this red, ‘Cuatro Pasos’, translates into English as ‘Four Steps’. This is due to the four paw-prints of a bear that were discovered in the vineyard.

Tasting Notes

In the glass, you can see cherry red, while the bouquet is that of red fruits and a subtle vanilla waft from the oak. This is a fruit forward style that has both elegance and superb balance.
