Big, bold, deep, dark and spicy. Touriga Nacional is famed as the 'Port Grape', to which it lends concentrated dark fruit, fresh acidity, a unique savoury spice that can develop wild complexity with age, and firm tannic structure. While Alentejo may be far from the Douro Valley, it retains this same power and presence, if slightly tempered by the cooler coastal climes in which it is grown. Drink now or cellar until 2025, perhaps longer. Pair with flavourful cheeses, gamey dishes, richly marinated roasted vegetables and even very dark chocolate.
Grown, vinified and bottled on the Cortes de Cima estate. Aged in French oak for 8 months.

Founded in 1988 by Danish-American couple, Hans and Carrie Jorgensson, Cortes de Cima Family vineyards make modern wines from blends of Syrah and native Portuguese varieties. All Cortes wines are made with fruit grown on the coast of Alentejo and are estate bottled. Sparing use of oak is a signature of their house style, preferring to let the fruit do most of the talking.
