That year was unusually cold, and we had 50 liters more rain than the typical 450 liters. Despite this, the vines budded 5 days earlier than usual, on April 29th. A warm May helped the vines grow quickly, but a hailstorm on May 30th caused damage. Treatments with valerian and basalt helped the vines recover. The vines sprouted between May 17 and 22. Biodynamic treatments with yarrow and silica helped prevent frost damage. June's mild weather made vineyard work easy, and we focused on green pruning, stripping, and leaf removal until mid-August. The summer was warm and dry, and cool autumn nights enhanced the grapes' aroma and color. However, a few years later, in 2006, the Masaveu and Nozaleda families joined \u003cstrong\u003eAALTO\u003c\/strong\u003e, both owners of wineries in other wine regions of Spain, providing experience and stability to the project, which meant the consolidation of the winery to this day.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eFrom its beginnings in 1999 until the harvest of 2004, the production of our wines took place in rented facilities in Roa (Burgos, Spain). While the project was being established, the founders began looking for a new place to locate their own new winery. A beautiful plot of 15 hectares belonging to the municipality of Quitanilla de Arriba (Valladolid) was chosen.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eThe first phase of the new winery was completed in 2005, being that year the first harvest that was produced in these facilities. The modern design chosen for this new winery was carried out only with the very highest quality criteria. The architecture of the winery is perfectly integrated into the environment, in a typical Ribera del Duero plateau, with a lineal and harmonic design without ostentation, and minimalistic details, elegant and comfortable. After a few years they decided to create a winery in her hometown, together with members of Elena's family who would provide the grapes, and thereby forge a lasting relationship between her growing family in Barcelona and her roots in Sotillo.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp id=\"\" myqa4hh\u003eThe first years of Bodegas Valdaya were difficult, but in 2013 everything changed. They recruited a young couple as winemakers, Marta Ramas and Miguel Fisac, who had studied oenology at the University of Bordeaux and learned their trade working in Saint-Emilion, Napa Valley and Capetown in South Africa. With the Valdaya project, they returned to their homeland, Ribera del Duero, to start a new way of vinifying based on micro-fermentation and carrying out each process manually to express the maximum potential of each terroir. The concept was simple: from each of the family growers' nine best plots, they would make nine barrels of wine, maintaining the identity of each parcel through the tiny quantity of wine made in each barrel.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eThe resulting wines displayed silkiness, elegance, the purity of the fruit, a clear finesse that immediately set them apart from most other wines made in Ribera. Manual harvest, bunch selection in the vineyard.  Grapes all destemmed and racked into small stainless steel and concrete tanks in order to control the alcoholic fermentation and the extraction of the wine. Slow and gentle infusion during alcoholic fermentation, to obtain a smooth wine without astringency.
