That's where the name 'Estate' comes from. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz were the very first wines released and are the heart and soul of the business.

In the language of wine, an estate means that the vineyards and winery are in the same location. The inspiration for this came from the great producers of Bordeaux and in particular Chateau Mouton Rothschild who famously were the first to also bottle their wines on the estate. This approach of having ultimate control over the vineyards, winery and even bottling of the wines appealed to the Taylor family. These days the wines are still crafted and bottled on the estate although not all of the fruit is grown there. This is mainly because of the popularity of the wines, but occasionally fruit from other areas is of a higher quality, as is the case for the Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. It's this commitment to the way our wines are crafted that has earned the Taylors an enviable reputation and contributed to their continued success. Wakefield Wines have consistently won awards around the world for the quality of the wines for almost half a century.

Region belnd: Adelaide Hills (58%) Clare Valley (42%)

Jaraman Chardonnay 2022 oak maturation: American oak was employed for its ability to deliver robust characters.
