Chateau Musar Red 2015
Chateau Musar Red 2015, like many previous vintages, is a complex and uniquely powerful wine. Cellared well it will keep for decades - if you can resist it!
Hochar's cult wine made from Cabernet and Cinsault needs little introduction. A deep red colour, with aromas of sweet cherry, plum and dried fruit together with a subtle spice element and hint of tobacco. The wine has a soft, rounded mouthfeel with lots of flavour and fruit concentration – caramel, mocha, ripe red fruits which are supported with soft, velvety tannins and a spicy finish. Bottle unfined and unfiltered, Chateau Musar Reds are suitable for vegans and require careful decanting. Allow to breathe for several hours and serve with roasted or grilled meat (especially lamb), casseroles, game and mature cheeses.
"Deep ruby colour and an aroma of fresh hedgerow berries - bramble, blackcurrant and cherry, also more complexity coming through later with leather and delicate, peppery-spice notes. The flavours are similar, with some soft vanilla, warming spice and a cocoa note. Fresh acidity and supple tannins make the wine a perfect accompaniment to richer, fattier meats like duck or a ribeye steak"
Without doubt, Chateau Musar is Lebanon’s top wine estate. Established by Gaston Hochar in the 1930s, Chateau Musar has been praised the world over and its wines compared to the likes of fine Bordeaux and Burgundy for their finesse and ability to age. Made world famous by Gaston's son, Serge (Decanter magazine's first 'Man of the Year'), the family continue to make fantastic wines.
