Chateau Moulin de la Bridane Clos du Meunier Saint-Julien 2015
A superb Saint-Julien from the exceptional 2015 vintage.
"From one of the few estates in Saint-Julien that is not a classified growth, this wine represents a bargain. The wine is rich, perfumed and beautifully structured. It has a velvety consistency with its ripe black currants and generous tannins." Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast.
Chateau Moulin de la Bridane, Cuvee Clos du Meunier, is the second wine of Chateau La Bridane, a family-run estate for 300 years, located on deep Garonnaise gravel soils in the famous Saint-Julien sub-region of Bordeaux. The wine is named after the mill belonging to Abbot Bridane in the late 1700s. It is a varied blend of 45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc, in an area that usually majors on Cabernet Sauvignon. It spends 9 months in oak barriques, of which 20% are new. The current owner, Bruno Saintout seeks a style that has both power and elegance.
Being one of the rare estates in Saint-Julien that is not a classified growth, its wines represent great value for money, especially in the best vintages such as 2015.
