Château Megyer Dry Furmint 2015 Hungary
A captivating expression of Hungary’s most famous white grape variety.
Château Megyer and its sister company Pajzos were among the first to be privatised following Soviet occupation in 1991. The soils here are heavy volcanic clay and the Megyer wines produced from them are made in large cellars under the castle at Rakoczi. Both Pajzos and Megyer are owned by Jean-Louis Lagorde, owner of Château Clinet in Pomerol. Vegetarian.
The Megyer Furmint offers intense aromas of stone fruits, peach, elderflower, lime and a flinty, mineral note. On the palate it is fresh and clean with a lovely richness through to the finish. It will improve very well over time so make sure you stock up the cellar with this beauty.
