Tasting notes

Château L'Arnaude's 'Premium' white is a brilliant pale lemon-gold colour with elegant aromas of melon and pear on the nose. The wine has a zesty balance of freshness and plenty of ripe pear and citrus fruit with a touch of herbaceousness from the Vermentino, known locally as Rolle. The Semillon adds body in the mid-palate and richness towards the finish, beautifully balanced by the Vermentino's minerality. This is a delicious drop on its own, but very much at home with dishes such as salmon mousse, sole, trout or even fresh goat's cheese.

Jean-Jacques Bréban’s family have been sourcing high quality wines in Provence for over 70 years. However, it was only in 2019 that he bought his own estate… the French call it a coup de cœur - it was love at first sight when he saw Château L’Arnaude. A thirty-hectare estate, with twenty of them dedicated to vines, and most importantly, the terroir to produce truly authentic Provençal wines. At its heart stands a simple bastide, a seventeenth century country house, that owes its existence to a decree by King Louis XIV of France, to provide hostels for holy pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago - it seems fitting that it now offers a small number of stylish rooms for modern travellers seeking more “terrestrial” comforts.

With a careful programme of re-planting and care in the cellar, Jean-Jacques and his family are producing top quality rosés to drink with food, fresh zesty whites and reds that merit a little cellaring, intent on paying homage to the Provence region they adore.
