Chateau Filhot Grand Cru Classé Sauternes 2001 Halves
A deep golden, mature Sauternes from a famous 2nd Growth Grand Cru estate.
Château Filhot was founded in 1709 by Romain de Filhot and is today owned and managed by one of his descendants: Count Henri de Vaucelles. The property is one of the most beautiful estates in Sauternes and classified in 1855 as Grand Cru Classé 2nd Growth. The wines tend to have a higher percentage of Sauvignon Blanc in the blend and are always a great representation of classic Sauternes.
A deep golden dessert wine with intense aromas of candied fruits, ripe apricots, honey and spice. This is rich and luscious on the palate, but kept perfectly balanced with enough freshness still despite it's maturity. The long finish has honeyed apricot and citrus notes.
