Chateau des Estanilles 'Le Clos du Fou' Faugeres Rouge 2015
Awarded 93-95 Points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, this superb organic Faugeres is a world class wine at a very competitive price.
Chateau des Estanilles is a highly-regarded 35 hectare, today owned and run by Julien Seydoux, in the Faugeres sub-region of France's dynamic southern Languedoc region. The estate has been certified organic since the 2010 vintage. The 'Clos du Fou' Faugères comes from Julien's top parcel of south-facing Syrah vines, with the addition of 5% Grenache. Only 200 cases are produced of this critically-acclaimed wine, so this is in very short supply! Having been awarded 93-95 Points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, this is world class wine at a very competitive price.
"Awesome" 93-95/100 Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
This young full-flavoured Syrah has classic black pepper notes alongside blackberry fruit and is well-structured, with complex notes of liquorice and coffee. Drinking well now but will keep for a decade or more.
"Coming from a single parcel of Syrah that will see two years in demi-muids and Bordeaux barrels, the 2015 Faugères Clos du Fou has awesome notes of ripe black fruits, crushed rocks, baking spices and hints of chocolate. Full-bodied, concentrated and layered, with an inherent elegance that's present in all the wines from this estate, it should drink nicely in its youth, yet keep for a decade." 93-95/100 Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate.
