A firm favourite at our 2019 South Africa Tasting Myriad is a blend of ripe Merlot and Grenache fortified with 3 year cask matured brandy spirit.
Tightly woven flavours of cherry liqueur, lavender and hazelnuts with ripe Merlot black fruit. Sweetness is restrained by the cognac warmth lingering in the background. Lively tensioned structure with velvety complexity throughout.
Catherine Marshall's dessert-style Myriad, has been specifically crafted for washed rind cheeses like the famous Burgundian époisses.
After many years of experimenting with sweetness levels and brandy spirit strengths, the perfect balance of fruit, spirit and maturation to harmonise with the strong character of this type of cheese is evident. Since the quantity is limited, most of the winemaking is done by hand.
