Ca' Dei Noni Cabernet Riserva Montello Colli Asolani DOC 2013
This delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Northen Italy is a revelation. Commended, 84 Points - Decanter World Wine Awards 'Seductive'
Ca' Dei Noni is a modern project from the historic and pioneering Follador winery, one of the pioneers of Valdobbiadene Prosecco. Translating as 'House of the grandparents', which refers to four generations of the Rossi family in the heart of the Veneto wine region since the late 1800’s, the wines combine experience and knowledge with modern techniques. The grapes for this Colli Asolani D.O.C wine come from vineyards owned by the family in the Montello area, which has excellent red clay soils perfect for producing full-bodied red wines. Grapes are hand harvested and dried for about 20 days. Ageing is in French oak barrels for a period of 18 months before spending another 12 months in the bottle before release.
Commended, 84 Points - Decanter World Wine Awards
'Seductive nose of fig, date and caramel followed by a cassis led palate with hints of bacon, chocolate, smokey oak.'
This delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Northen Italy is a revelation. This grape is unusual in these Prosecco-producing parts, but this wine shows it can really shine. This has rich aromas of blueberry, black cherry, currants and plums along with notes of vanilla, tobacco and coffee. The palate is rich and rounded, but retaining enough of Cabernet Sauvignon's classic structure to balance. There are spicy and balsamic notes on the long finish. Best decanted, and great with food, enjoy now and over the next 3-5 years. Comended - Decanter Magazine.
