Broken Shackle Classic Red South Eastern Australia 2017
A ripe, well rounded, and wonderfully structured red - superb value for money
2017 was characterised by a late harvest compared to the past eight to 10 years. In the vineyard, flavour ripeness came well before the sugar levels were achieved, so the fruit was picked by parcel based on fruit and seed ripeness, in order to ensure the best possible quality was maintained. The resulting wines are lighter in style but retain excellent varietal characters. Standout varieties for the vintage were Shiraz and Merlot.
An easy drinking, full-flavoured Australian red with aromas of ripe, sun-kissed plum and red currant over toasty mocha and spicy oak. The palate is full and intense, with notes of rich plum and blueberry underpinned by ripe tannins which impart great structure and length to the palate.
