Today it's the turn of Hugh Taylor, Managing Director of Slurp, in our 'Meet The Team' feature

What do you enjoy most about being MD of Slurp?

After an early career in advertising and marketing I have somehow ended up in my dream job. I really enjoy all parts of the job, but probably derive the most satisfaction from the many positive comments we receive about the quality and the variety of the wines we offer as well as the enthusiasm and responsiveness of our customer service team. I also love it when our our buying team tracks down new interesting and exclusive wines that end up developing a cult following amongst our wonderful customers.

Which wines from our range are you currently enjoying?

I really like South African wines - there is so much value to be had there - stand out for me would be the Andreas Shiraz 2015 - A smooth full bodied red from outside Wellington. Portugal is another really exciting Wine country at the moment - I am particularly enjoying the Quinta Nova Pomares Douro 2017 - A delicious blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz which is designed to be drunk young. In terms of my favourite white wine, I would probably go more traditional like the Domaine du Chalet Pouilly, Pouilly- Fuisse 2016 which is wonderfully rich and delicious.

What would be your 'Food Heaven' and what would be the wine pairing?

I do enjoy my food and love discovering new cuisines and dishes. In terms of favourite it varies depending on the time of year and my mood! At the moment I would be very tempted by -
Starter - Cured vodka and beetroot salmon - a dry Riesling - I think our 50 Degrees Riesling 2016 would be the perfect match.
Main Course - Lamb steaks with rosemary sweet potatoes. If I wanted to treat myself, I would go for the outstanding VIK Milla Cala 2013
Dessert - I am definitely more of cheese person - for hard cheeses like Aged Comté (one of my favourites) I would go for a sherry like Fernando Castilla Antique Amontillado

When you are not running Slurp, what do you like to do?

Outside of work I am an avid tennis player (I play at least twice a week), Francophile, part time sailor, keen rugby watcher and often found on leisurely family cycle rides.
