Argiano Non Confunditur Toscana 2018
An intriguing, rich and modern blend of Sangiovese with assorted French varietals to create a full-bodied, chunky wine that makes a great partner to food.
Deep black-red and still showing signs of youthful purple. Clean, fresh, attractive aromas of ripe red berries and italian herbs. The palate is rich and full-bodied with some tannin, but overlayed with dark, ripe berry fruits. Balanced acidity keeps the wine bright and juicy, and then there's a touch of smokiness on the finish. The wine has good length on the palate and will make a great partner to hearty meat and vegatable dishes.
Argiano have produced fine wines in Montalcino since 1888, and for us, the wines offer true character and quality for a very reasonable price, given how much some Brunello sell for! They regularly receive critical acclaim, with the Wine Advocate stating "Argiano is among the top producers in Tuscany". The wines are marked by elegance and balance, and are aged first in French oak barriques before going into larger Slavonian oak barrels.
This wine is a relative newcomer to Argiano's range and is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Sangiovese - it might be described as the baby brother of Argiano's famous Super-Tuscan, Solengo, which can sell for over £50 a bottle.
