Greywacke is the exciting new solo venture of Kevin Judd, who was chief winemaker at Cloudy Bay for 25 vintages and instrumental in the international recognition which New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc enjoys today. The debut wine under the Greywacke label was the 2009 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, which sold out almost everywhere.A wine of intense aromatics exotic honeysuckle blossom, candied lemon and vanilla custard, infused with a hint of cloves. The luscious palate has a marmalade-like combination of lemons and limes mingled with the richness of honeyed apricots and a dollop of crème caramel. Silky, succulent and harmonious finishing with a lively citrusy crispness.
"Absolutely delicious nose, honey, botrytis, but lovely lime purity too, not masked by the botrytis. Delicious palate too, that purity and vibrancy again and smooth, lanolin texture. Freshening acidity gives a keen edge in the finish." 91 points, Tom Cannavan - wine-pages.com, March 2013
"Full of peach, lime and honeyed flavours." Christine Austin, The Yorkshire Post, March 2013more ↓ less ↑
