Vie di Romans is based in the heart of Isonzo, where Gianfranco Gallo’s 30 hectares of vineyards produce about 150,000 bottles a year. The soil is stony and glacial, and soaks up whatever rainfall there is like a sponge. From the vineyards, to the east, a semicircular mountain formation is visible. There is a pass in the mountains through which a cool east wind blows. This cool wind causes a big difference between day and night temperatures, and enables the grapes to accumulate a great deal of flavour. This, along with the low yields Gallo achieves, and his proclivity for late picking, gives wines of great intensity and richness.

It is light lemon yellow in colour with an open, aromatic nose, with perfumes of stoned fruit, fresh peaches and greengages with a hint of tropical fruit. On the palate, it has excellent balance between a rounded, fuller style of Sauvignon, given a touch of warm honey by the malolactic fermentation, and the freshness characteristic of this region. It has an elegant, citrus twist on the finish.
