The Molitor family have been making wine at their estate for 8 generations. The home of the winery lies situated above the Moselle in the middle of the Wehlener Klosterberg vineyard, with a view over to the vineyards of Zeltingen. With over 34 hectares of well-sited vineyard, Markus is one of the middle Mosels most important growers. Markus Molitor's vision has been to help restore the wines of the Mosel valley to their former glory, with unmistakeable Riesling wines true to their individual vineyard identity (terroir) and of extreme longevity. Markus Molitor excels at weaving together that incredibly tense and vibrant mix of minerality, acidity, sweetness and ripeness, and has produced a selection of almost sixty wines from numerous vineyards, every possible Pradikat level. The 2007 Markus Molitor Zeltingen Riesling Haus Klosterberg is an award-winning vintage, acclaimed by Decanter and Wine Spectator in recent years. It is produced from a blend of Riesling grapes from different vineyards on the Molitor Estate in the Middle Mosel. The fruit is sourced mainly from the Klosterberg vineyard, situated directly behind the winery, which has stony free draining soil, and produces a deliciously pure, fresh and classic Riesling. The Haus Klosterberg Reisling is medium sweet in style with fine, taut floral characters, bright acidity and perfect poise. Consequently this is a wonderful wine for the summertime, delicious when paired with light summer salads, pasta prima vera or delicately spiced thai food.
