Chateau du Coing is located in the village of Saint Fiacre, in the Sèvre-et-Maine district of Muscadet, in the west of the Loire valley. The owner and winemaker is Véronique Günther-Chereau, whose family has been making wine at Saint-Fiacre in the Muscadet area since 1421. Véronique has over 65 hectares of vines which lie at the meeting point of the Sèvre and Maine rivers. Despite the general Muscadet area being controlled by
negociants (80 per cent of production is sold by the `negoces`), this is a family run estate, with only their own vines used to make and bottle their wine. 100% Melon de Bourgogne (or Muscadet), this wine sees ripe stone fruit and jasmine dominate the palate and length, supported by underlying crisp acidity and purity of citrus flavours. The wine is medium-bodied with a fresh yet rich finish from ageing in the cellar on its fine lees.
