At Chapel Down they source grapes from vineyards all over the South East of England, from Sussex, Kent and Essex. They believe that good winemaking starts in the vineyard, and impose the highest quality standards on their growers to deliver ripe and clean fruit. The grapes are always quality controlled when they arrive at the winery during the harvest period. Only the very best fruit will be selected to go into Chapel Down Wines. The range and variety of grapes (from Bacchus to Pinot Noir) grown on the chalk downs or Essex clays, produce unique and exiting wines that you won’t taste anywhere else. These varieties have a potential that is now truly being realised in England. As well as sourcing grapes from over 180 acres over the South East, Chapel Down also have their own Vineyard at Tenterden that extends over 25 acres. The 2006 Pinot Blanc from Chapel Down is similar in style to a light, unoaked Chablis. Dry anb slightly austere, it has citrus fruit characters and tingly acidity. Match with crisp salads and light, fresh seafood dishes.
