Chilean White Wine
White wine from Chile is a relatively new category for us here at Slurp: Although European wines are our benchmark (many New World producers still reference European wines in describing and ranking their own products)
At Slurp we aim to offer a comprehensive selection of whites to accommodate every pallet and every budget and are keen to supply wines from well-established white wine producers from all around the world.
The region has a long viticultural history for a New World wine region dating to the 16th century when the Spanish conquistadors brought vines with them as they colonized the region. In the mid-18th century, French wine varietals such as Sauvignon and Chardonnay were introduced. In the early 1980s, a renaissance began with the introduction of stainless steel fermentation tanks and the use of oak barrels for aging. Wine exports grew very quickly as quality wine production increased.
Chile is now the fifth largest exporter of wines to the United States. The climate has been described as midway between that of California and France.
We can now proudly offer our customers Chilean wines; including estates in the Colchagua, Curico, Maule and Casablanca valleys. Aided by top winemaker consultant Alfonso Espinoza they are creating some exceptional wines at all levels that cover many tastes and show good purity of fruit to give well defined and enjoyable flavour that have helped Chilean wineries produce more international recognized wine styles.
